My feelings towards our openings

I think that our film opening is good but could be better. I thought the lighting that we used during the filming process was well-suited to our genre of gangster films and the costumes we used helped reflect the genre. I think that we had good control of the narrative as we presented multiple enigmas that interested the audience with a the plotline of murder beginning the movie. I think we could've improved out by spending more time filming scenes so that we could get more shots to make the film flow more smoothly.

Preliminary sequence editing software

During the preliminary sequence I used the diting software Final Cut Express for the first time. I had never used this particular editing software before instead, I had used software like the typical windows video editor and sony vegas pro. Although, I eventually learnt how to use as I do with other software it took me a while to figure out how some parts worked. Therefore, I had to look on the internet to find out how to use certain functions. I did learn how to use video transitions and effects in Final Cut Express and how to manipulate the audio of clips to make them fade or be silent.

My idea submissions to our opening

I like to think that I helped in contributing ideas towards our opening sequence in terms of good camera angles etc. The scene with the panning of the gangster murderer walking originally came from a storyboard that I made up for an old media homework. I also helped develop the storyline that we hoped to create but only with the stalking aspect, the idea of love was done by the other members of the group.

Group

We've recently been put into our groups for our future film opening. The group I am is Group T where I am with Holly Oxley, Aisha Essoulami and Max Davies. I knew Max previously but I have never et the other two girls before. I'm quite happy with the people group as everyone seems smart at what they're doing I hope I'll get on well with the whole group.

Started on Secrets and Lies

In class, we're currently watching several clips from the film Secrets and Lies. We plan to look into each clip and analyse the clips and see if we can find connotations. I hope to document these in a powerpoint presentation but I have heard that these do not work well on the blog so I may have to post the information manually.

Horror still planning

I plan to do a horror still that will focus mainly on a murderer. I have got my friend to play the murderer while I will take the shot, I have planned for him to wear a boiler suit and a gas mask. I have also selected a forest for the shot to be taken in during the midday. Another thing that I will hope to do is reduce the colour to make it seem more dark and sinister.
