I've researched into our planned genre of our film by looking up key codes and conventions that can be used in my opening scene. I hope to try to incorporate these into my film opening so to appeal to the audience of the genre. We also tried to add the thriller genre into the film and have also researched the codes and conventions of the genre.
Some key codes and conventions that I found for the gangster genre:
- The setting is set in a big city
- Gangsters take power by taking it
- Success is measured in material goods for example, suits, cars, women

- Fast paced camera shots
- Dark lighting
